Mr. George W. Duff Assheton-Smith, owner of the Vaynol and Dinorwic Quarries, who was reputed to be the wealthiest man in North Wales, has died at Vaynol Park, near Bangor, after an illness of some weeks duration.
The deceased, who was born in 1848, was the eldest son of the late R. G. Duff, of Wellington Lodge, Isle of Wight, and inherited his immense wealth from his great aunt, Mrs. (Thomas) Assheton-Smith.
