Ex gariel collection. Coin delivered with old tag with inscription : ” rare vente gariel” ( Translation : rare gariel sale ). Very scarce pedigree.

Ernest Gariel is born 31 October 1825 , Deceased 19 April 1884.

Ernest Gariel is a French industrial engineering and famous numismatist. He is the author of numerous books : “Les monnaies royales de France sous la race carolingienne”.  His vast collection of rare coins ( carolingians period ) was bequeathed to the Auxerre museum and available to the public.
