Description:

Uncirculated pre-series specimen retaining full mint freshness.

Extremely rare 1960 pre-series " Épi" issue without the word “ESSAI”, of the standard 1 centime "Épi" type , struck on a brillant planchet.

The 1960 “Épi” 1 centime coin is a trial strike (pre-series), based on a design by Marcel Guilleminet, produced prior to the official adoption of the type in 1962. The wheat ear motif, symbolizing abundance, was later refined and finalized by Chief Engraver Raymond Joly for the definitive version.

This type is highly sought after by collectors.
