Description:

Double d’or that has retained its original luster. Very discreet mounting mark at 12 o’clock with extremely light cleaning. Very fine strike with the king’s portrait particularly well rendered. A superb example.

A rare coin, missing from most collections.

First issue.

Obverse: x PH’: DEI: GRAx - xFRANC:REXx.

The king, seated in a Gothic stall with a canopy, crowned, holding a long scepter and a short scepter. The step of the stall is decorated with saltire crosses.

Reverse: + xXPC: VINCIT: XPC: REGNAT: XPC: IMPERAT.

A leafed and fleuronnée cross with a rosette at its center, flanked by four small crowns, set within a quadrilobe with foliated and fleuronné corners.
