    Switzerland, Vaud, 39 Batzen ND (1830) on French Louis XVI Écu 1790 I Limoges, with very rare countermark “39/BZ” and the arms of Vaud on the reverse.

    Following the wide circulation of the écu over a long period of time, the canton of Bern decided to introduce 40 Batzen countermarks between 1816 and 1819, The canton of Vaud decided to introduce 39 Batzen countermarks in 1830 of the same value as the local Swiss currency.
