  • Pedigree :

    Coin from the renowned Armand Trampitsch collection.

    Lot 319 of the Monaco sale held on November 13–14–15, 1986, expert: Jean Vinchon.

    It may also be an example originating from the Puteaux hoard (1950), as the same dies were used.

    Armand Trampitsch (1890–1975) was a well-known French collector, renowned for his eclectic and exceptional numismatic collection, encompassing coins from Antiquity through the medieval and royal periods.

    His coin collection was dispersed in three major auctions:

    – the first in Monaco, November 13–15, 1986, devoted to ancient coins;

    – the second at the Hôtel Georges V in Paris, on May 31 and June 1, 1988, featuring feudal and medieval coinage up to the Restoration;

    – and the third on May 25–26, 1989, at the Hôtel Drouot in Paris, notably including royal and Lorraine coinage.
