    Origin: Chameau Treasure

The Chameau was a military transport ship of the French Royal Navy that ran aground near Île Royale in 1725. The wreck was found in the 1960s. This maritime treasure was composed mainly of Louis d’or Mirliton and écus to the 8L in silver during the reign of Louis XV. An auction in New York in 1971 allowed this precious treasure to be resold. Read the article
