The coin retains its original mint brilliance, enhanced by light grey toning. A few fine scratches are visible on the obverse, along with light hairlines in the fields and faint fingerprints.

Very rare in this variety and particularly attractive.

A particularly interesting example combining the Director’s “Hand” privy mark with the very rare “Greyhound’s Head” mark of Jacques-Jean Barre, Engraver General, used shortly before its replacement. This combination corresponds to the issue struck on April 27, 1855, of which only 2,886 pieces were struck.
